Lego City Park Tractor Review: A Collector’s Hidden Gem

,

I recently had the pleasure of picking up this small, retired, Lego city set. After building the set and incorporating it into my larger City / Lego vehicle collection – here are my thoughts.

(The set at a glance)

Set number 60390 Lego City Park Tractor was released in January 2023 but was quickly retired in November 2023, a trend that seems quite common with smaller City sets due to their limited production runs and popularity among collectors and children alike. Due to this, I always try to keep an eye out for these gems before they disappear from shelves. You can quite often find them reduced at retailers, which is a great opportunity for enthusiasts and parents looking for budget-friendly options. The Lego City Park Tractor, starting at a price of £8.99, is definitely on the cheaper end of Lego’s offering, making it an attractive choice for those wanting to add to their collection without breaking the bank; it features the charm of city life, complete with intricate details that spark imagination and encourage creative play.

With a total of 86 pieces this lands the Park Tractor at a respectable price per piece of £0.10 spot on the Lego average (for 2023).

This is a great little set and its small form factor masks a plethora of uses. I’ve already found multiple including incorporating it into a larger City park build, perhaps a farm, or even a custom build vineyard. I’m definitely going to be trawling eBay and Bricklink for a few more of these. A whole fleet of park rangers!

The set boasts many play features including a moveable top section on the tractor, which gives easy access the interior components during play. Additionally, it includes multiple minifigure accessories such as tools and gear that enhance the storytelling experience. The delightful squirrel figure adds a touch of charm to the scene, while the standard Lego tree provides a beautiful backdrop for adventures (And yes you can place the squirrel on the tree). To top it all off, the set features a printed ladybug tile, which brings an extra layer of detail and realism, encouraging kids to engage in creative scenarios.

Included in the set is a great looking minifigure, sporting a dark green cap, green shirt, brown overalls, and matching brown legs. This minifigure is distinctive without being garish. A few spare heads could go a long way if you had multiple figures.

The minifigures are currently priced around £2.10 on Bricklink. Personally I think this is quite cheap as the minifigure torso can only be found in this set and in set 60380 Downtown (City) which currently retails for £179.99.

The set also combines well with other Lego sets, such as the current Lego Tractor set 60287 (£17.99). The ball joint used in the Park Tractor’s trailer is compatible with the larger Tractor set. Perfect for pulling farm equipment or tired bunnies!

Ultimately, I think Lego set 60390 Park Tractor is a well-priced little set chock full of play features that can truly ignite the imagination of both kids and adult fans alike. Its a great addition to any Lego enthusiast’s collection. Adding multiple sets to the collection will only expand your fun, as the possibilities for imaginative setups become nearly limitless; for instance, I’m thinking about connecting multiple trailers in series to create a bustling park scene, complete with visitors and activities. Overall, this set is not just a toy, but a gateway to countless adventures and storytelling possibilities.
