Review – 60454 LEGO City Holiday Adventure Camper Van

,

Camper Vans have been a mainstay of LEGO City for years. The LEGO Camper Van is even older than LEGO City itself, making multiple appearance in LEGO Town. One of the earliest is 1984’s 6694 Car with Camper.

Fast forward over 40 years to 2025 and the LEGO Camper is still going strong with 60454 Holiday Adventure Camper Van. How does this latest addition stack up to previous entries and can it justify the £7 price hike?

60454 Holiday Adventure Camper Van comes with 4 numbered bags, an instruction booklet and a sticker sheet. Surprisingly for a set released in 2025 it came with the ‘old style’ plastic bags.

The build took roughly 30 minutes and the minifigures were evenly spaced throughout. Overall the build experience was pleasant but there weren’t any standout techniques used – a standard modern build.

Typical for LEGO Camper Van sets, 60454 Holiday Adventure Camper Van comes with two minifigures and a baby fig. Also included are a baby’s bottle, guitar, and coffee pot accessories. All these fit nicely back in the Van build which is a nice touch. The baby even has a designated spot next to the driver!

A common struggle with LEGO vehicles is maintaining the balance between faithful minifigure-scale and making sure there’s enough space.

Holiday Camper Van stands as a shining example! The designers have managed to double the piece count to 385 (compared to 190 in 2021’s camper van) without making the vehicle too big.

60454 – Holiday Adventure Camper Van is packed full of details and play features. From the opening sunroof to the sliding bathroom door these small moving elements add up to create a really dynamic set.

The Sliding door in action.

Through clever use of building techniques the interior feels open and spacious despite containing a bathroom, two beds, space for chairs, and a little kitchen area.

The build isn’t perfect however, there are two minor points that let the set down. First is the reliance on stickers. This has obviously been done to help keep the set’s cost down, but the camper relies on stickers for all the outside graphics.

The second minor issues is how the side has been designed.
A tile’s width has been left empty to allow the side of the camper van to swing open. This results in a small gap being visible from the back of the van.

admittedly this is only a small issue and is only really visible close up. Its unlikely that you’ll notice the gap when playing / displaying the build.

Overall 60454 – Holiday Adventure Camper Van should be the benchmark when it comes to LEGO Vehicles. Its affordable at £0.06 per piece, comes with two diverse minifigures, and is packed full of fun play features.
Holiday Adventure Camper Van is a great addition to LEGO’s Camper Van series and works well with LEGO’s other camping themed sets.
