Shrek fans rejoice! LEGO has officially announced two new Shrek themed sets. Despite Shrek releasing back in 2001 it’s cultural relevancy has stayed strong throughout the years. Several sequels, and funny memes later it’s still a beloved IP by many fans.
- 72423 – Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots – £109.99 / $129.99 / €119,99
- 40923 – Shrek, Donkey & Gingy Brickheadz – £19.99 / $24.99 / €24,99
LEGO have officially unveiled two new Shrek themed sets. One large brick-build model and a more affordable Brickheadz set.
72423 – LEGO Shrek, Donkey & Puss in Boots
First up is the 1,403 piece brick-built Shrek and Donkey model. The two iconic characters are situated in Shrek’s swamp, complete with Beware Ogre sign. The build is stuffed full of classic Shrek references and even comes with an adorable Puss in Boots minifigure!
The build features several onions including one hidden inside Shrek’s stomach. You can remove the front of his belly to reveal a fleshy-pink interior – including an onion and an eye. The onion is clearly a reference to the iconic “ogres are like onions” quote.
Fans wanting to build Shrek and Donkey will have to pay £109.99 / $129.99 / €119,99 and pre-orders are open now. The sets are expected to ship from 1st June 2026. (Grab your set here)
40923 – Shrek, Donkey & Gingy Brickheadz
If £109.99 is too much for a Shrek set, LEGO has you covered. Also releasing is a Shrek themed Brickheadz set. 40923 Shrek, Donkey & Gingy, as the name implies, builds BrickHeadz variants of iconic Shrek characters.
The stand-out build is clearly Shrek. He’s instantly recognisable and even comes equipped with the Beware Ogre sign. Personally, I think it’s great that LEGO included the sign in the cheaper set as it allows fans to pick-up the element for cheap. The piece will look great in a full Shrek’s Swamp MOC. I’m excited to see what fans do with it!

Whilst it’s a surprise, it’s definitely a welcome one. Despite being over 20 years old Shrek is still a fan favourite character. It gives me hope that the Shrek sets weren’t released under the Icons or Ideas themes. Hopefully, this means we could see more Shrek themed sets in the future.
Personally I’d love to see an official Shrek’s Swamp set with more Shrek themed minifigures.
