LEGO Happy Plants 10349 Unboxing and Review

10349 Happy Plants complete build

Released back in June 2025, 10349 LEGO Happy Plants is an adorable addition to the LEGO Botanical range. The set is split across two builds and as the name implies, builds two LEGO happy plant pots.

The front and back of the box are quite plain. Although, this isn’t totally unexpected as the Botanicals range is more geared towards adult builders. However, this set only carries a 9+ age suggestion. I think that’s an accurate rating as overall the builds aren’t too complicated.

The two happy plant pots get their own booklets and numbered bags. The pot colours totally give away which bags go with which instructions. It’s a small detail, but I like how each build has it’s own instruction booklet. This allows you to easily split the set up and build with a friend.

Bags 1 & 2 – Yellow Pot Dracaena Plant

The first two bags build the tall yellow pot. This pot houses the dracaena plant aka a dragon tree. The instruction booklet also includes a page on the dragon tree. It’s nice to see a real-life picture of the plant that inspired the LEGO build.

Bag 1 builds the body of plant pot. I found that the build went together easily and there weren’t any unusual building techniques. Standard SNOT techniques plus some technic elements for the noodle arms.

Personally I think the choice of colour is one of the best aspects of the set. LEGO has a few different ‘yellow’ colours but this time the designers have chosen a nice light yellow. The colour matches the pot’s happy, sunny expression, but isn’t too overpowering. The standard LEGO yellow would probably have been too bold.

Bag 2 builds the actual Dracaena plant. The plant is a mix of brown internal elements and green leaves.

I was a little surprised to see that the plant simply sits in the pot. Whilst this does make it easy to remove and swap the plant sections (As you’ll see later), the connection isn’t very secure. However, since this is clearly a display set, it’s unlikely that you’re going to be moving the pots around.

Bags 3 & 4 – Blue Pot – Pilea Plant

With the yellow pot build, bags 3 and 4 obviously make the blue pot. This pot isn’t as tall but is wider than the yellow one. The feet also stick out from the front giving a great sitting effect.

Like the yellow pot, this first bag builds the actual pot structure. The techniques used are the same as bag 1 but since it’s a small build, it didn’t feel too repetitive. The blue pot also features an adorable printed face plate. The face is a great lesson in doing a lot with a little.

The minimalist style is unintrusive but chibi and cute. I think the mouth section is great and gives the impression of chubby cheeks.

Last but not least is bag 4. This bag builds the Pilea plant. The instruction booklets states that the Pilea is often known called the friendship plant because it can be split apart and shared as a gift. As someone who owns a small army of Pilea plants, this is definitely true. Pilea plants love to sprout up clones!

The plant section uses some interesting LEGO parts and the overall effect is very accurate. The mix of greens adds some nice colour variation. Although, I think it’s a shame that the designers used a brown claw/bar piece when green versions exist.

The completed Build

Since the plant sections are build independantly from the pots – you can mix and match them. Although, personally I think the original pairing looks best.

Overall, I think 10349 LEGO Happy Plants is an amazing addition to the botanical range. It adds some cute whimsy to a quite mature theme. I’m glad the faces are printed and not stickers as it’s always a risk with cheaper LEGO sets. I’m sure creative LEGO fans will use the printed face elements to design their own potted plants.

The two pots look great in their light-pastel colours and would make a perfect gift. The price range (£17.99) is affordable and it’s good to see LEGO making smaller sets. Especially, in more mature themes like Botanicals.
