The Lego Ideas blog has officially unveiled Lego’s newest gift with purchase. Set number 40698 – Books Are My Passion will be available from the 28th of October through until the 11th of November 2024.
Those looking to receive this GWP will have to spend £130 / $130 / €130 or more on a qualifying Lego purchase.
The GWP is built from 285 pieces and features one sweater-clad Minifigure. Originally submitted under the name ‘Reading, Reading and Reading’, for the “Me, Myself and I” Challenge, back in 2023 – the set is created by fan designer Anna who goes by ‘Fr_An’.
This set is a great gift idea or small extra for book lovers!
This GWP features a stunning brick-built wooden bookcase, which is stuffed full of books! There are some great techniques on display here with ingot pieces, tiles, and bricks all combining to give the illusion of a stacked bookcase.
I also like the inclusion of many printed elements. The set incorporates a printed Minifigure head to act as a world globe. There are also tiles printed to look like letters. My guess is that not only does the Minifigure like reading – she also likes sending hand-written letters using the ink and quill on her side table.
Also included is a Lego book element with a printed tile. I’m not sure if its just me but the gothic “Once upon a time” script reminds me of the intro book in Shrek? Perhaps it’s simply the green book cover?
The set measures over 12 cm (5 in.) high, 9 cm (3.5 in.) wide and 9 cm (3.5 in) deep and makes a great display piece. I think its a shame that the set is only available as a gift with purchase as I could easily see myself buying two to use as bookends!
Creative builders could definitely use the set as an inspirational starting point for their own creations. The set would be right at home in a modular themed build.
As the promotion runs from the 28th of October through until the 11th of November – savvy shoppers could actually receive two gift’s with their order!
As described in my earlier post (Botanical Garden & GWP) Lego shoppers who buy the new The Botanical Garden on November 1st are set to receive GWP – 5009005 – Entrance Gate.
The Botanical Garden is retailing for £289.99 / $329.99 / €329,99 so buying the set will put you comfortably over this Gift with Purchase threshold also.
If perhaps botanical themed modulars are not your thing – X-Men The X-Mansion (Also releasing November 1st) comes with an exclusive day one gift. Buying the X-Mansion would also put shoppers over Books Are My Passion’s GWP threshold.
